My Story

I am taking part in the gruelling Lake District Triple Challenge 2023 for The Arete Foundation. This is a 10km trek up The Old Man of Coniston, 12km cycle through Grizedale Forest, followed by a 1.5km kayak around Coniston water ... all in one day!

Why am I doing this? To help the Arete Foundation to raise enough money to pay towards a Variety Club 'Sunshine Coach' for children in the North West Region. These coaches are specially adapted, accessible minibuses that cater for special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) schools and other non-profit organisations working with disabled and disadvantaged children and young people. Every coach that is provided to these children has a huge impact on their day to day life and ability to fulfil their potential.

Many young people find themselves on the wrong path in life due to a range of difficult circumstances, often outside of their control. Without the support and hard work of charities, it’s a path they struggle to escape.

As well as raising funds for the Sunshine Coach, The Arete Foundation provides funding and support to charitable organisations that help young people across the North West to fulfil their potential. Since founding the Foundation in November 2021 it has provided £120,000 to a variety of amazing causes, and with your help The Arete Foundation can continue to build on this and continue to make a difference to lives.

Thank you so much for all of your support.
